The project called “Parking Areas Implementing Safety and Security FOR (4) CORE network corridors in ITALY (PASS4CORE-IT)” was presented by a consortium of top-level national actors like Consorzio ZAI – Quadrante Europa freight village and other partners as motorway managers (A4 and CAV), freight villages (in addition to Verona, there are Padua, Parma, Orte and Livorno), an airport (Milano Malpensa), private operators and the Ministry of the Transport and Infrastructure through the Central Committee of the hauliers association that will use RAM as operative subject.
The objective is to realize a network of Safe and Secure parking areas for heavy vehicles travelling along the Italian road network.
The group of the activities foreseen in PASS4CORE will contribute to realize around 1,350 parking area for heavy vehicles, requalifying more than 300,000 sqm on 13 areas dedicated to this scope and for which it will be obtained the “Safe and Secure Truck Park” certification according to the European standards defined by ESPORG that is the European Secure Parking Organization. In addition, the initiative benefits from the effort of the Ministry of the Transport and Infrastructure that will coordinate the development of the network as well as the realization of a tool (app or portal) dedicated to the overall management of the information related to the offer of slots dedicated to the truckers.
The project started on the first of April 2020, and it will last for four years. Specifically, Consorzio ZAI will realize a new safe and secure parking area (by the end of 2022) of 5,500 sqm with 42 slots for the trucks that travel every day on the freight village area.
